Week 1B: Social Media Use Today

My instant thought when I think of social media is Instagram and Facebook. I don’t know if that’s because of my age or whether its because they are the only two platforms I use regularly. I enjoy social media platforms and I like that is has given us access to a world which once never existed. I do, however, seem to view it in more of a negative light than a positive attribute to society. Social media today is everywhere, there is no denying it. Our phones, our TV’s, our tablets, laptops, computers and any other electronic devices I have yet to hear of. The instant access to social media intrigues me as I remember a time when a laptop was a state-of-the-art product and if you owned one then you were extremely lucky. Social media allows us to access our friends, families, colleagues, and even pets at any time of the day from any location, but I still can’t help but think of this as a negative addition to the way we live. The Chosen One! Week #1

Just before I begin to explain why this theme became the chosen one, this is my first ever blog and I must admit it is a lot harder than first thought. Immediately, when I think of anything to do with blogs, my mind heads straight towards travel. I think this is mainly because I love travelling and, secondly, these are the only blogs I have enjoyed reading the most. Although extensive international travel may be off the cards for a little while, I like the idea of reading and experiencing adventures vicariously, whether it’s an adventure they have previously embarked upon, or an aspiration on their bucket list. So, when it came to choosing our own theme, I immediately scrolled down to the 'Travel' section. When I look at travel images across social media, I am immediately transported to a different destination. Perhaps it is a country I have previously visited, or perhaps the picture sends my imagination wild by trying to imagine the essence, the beauty, the people, and culture...
