Week 9 Part A: Blogs, Vlogs, Podcasts & Webinars
This blog will discuss the importance of attaching human interest of a personal touch to a post. There are many ways to insert a personal touch into a blog or post as mentioned in our assignment.
One of the first things the audience will recognize as they consume the content is the style in which the content is delivered. The way content is written, the specific words used frequently in my articles, and even the way i address the audience all matter.
Another way of adding a personal touch I believe, is to write as a person, even though you are sharing content for the purpose of promoting a business. I believe the audience relates better to people as opposed to brands. Rather than writing as a business, maybe writing as the owner of the business is more relatable and also make sure you share faces behind the business. Readers and customers like to see 'behind the scenes' and the face behind the work, once they see this, then they tend to feel closer.
Another way to add a human interest and personal touch is to share personal stories. Not all of the blog content needs to be about the business or the products I offer and I believe it is attractive to share personal experiences and stories, particularly stories that will benefit the audience in some ways.
I think one important tip to add a personal touch is to use perspective. I believe the way a story is told and the point of view of the post is just an important as the story itself. The more personal approach that is used, the more relatable it will be to the business.
I believe all of these tips and tactics could benefit my business, especially as my business is quite a corporate and 'professional' industry. It could appeal to the candidates that are looking for new roles as they will feel like they can relate to us and my business. It will also work well for the clients, to see that we are certainly professional, but we know the daily struggles or problems companies run in to when searching for new talent.
Overall, i don't feel there are many industries that wouldn't benefit for a little personal touch here and there, however, it is important to recognize what will and will not work for your company and your customers or target audience. It is also important to tailor the personal touches to your target audience. Some of the tips may work for one industry, but not for others.
