Week 15 Part B: What we Learn from FaceBook Analytics

This weeks assignment is to analyze and learn from FaceBook analytics. My page does not have enough likes or followers, I will need to use the material provided. I will be looking into many of the analytics such as reach, followers, engagement and actions. When I think about analytics, I feel like there are some obvious patters, however, it will be interesting to see if anything changes once I complete the research and look at the data.

The first analytic I will go over is the page reach - According to Facebook, reach is the number of unique users who had any content from your Facebook Page or about your Page enter their screen. So, in simple terms, it's the count of Facebook users who came into contact with your brand on Facebook. From looking at the data, between April 8 - May 5, there were a total of 6323 people reached from the posts, which was an increase of 28% on the previous month. When looking at this information, considering there is 12,175 followers on the page, this means that just over half saw this post. I didn't know what the expected reach percentage should be so I googled it and they said an average organic reach is around 6.4%, so from this, i presume this page has a great post reach.

The next analytic I will go over is the page followers - Facebook followers are people who have opted-in to “follow” your profile or page, meaning that they will receive your updates in their timeline, this is not the same as a Facebook friend though. Followers also allow posts to reach wider audiences. When looking at the data for the brewery, the page has 12,175 followers in total and what is interesting to me is that there was so much activity with new followers and also unfollowing of people. They were all pretty even, so it would be interesting to see why they unfollowed. There was a fair few unfollows  around the 26-03, but there was regular post activity around those days, so it would be interesting to analyze the posts and research why this may have happened.

The next analytic I want to look at is the post engagement - Post engagement on Facebook refers to the total number of actions people take involving your posts. This includes liking/reacting, commenting, sharing, claiming your offers, clicking the link, etc. When people see posts that are relevant to them, they're more likely to interact. The post engagement for this period is 821 which is an increase of 34% which I think is a great number. Again, I didn't know what a good engagement rate is, so after some research I found that a good engagement rate is around 1%, so going by those guidelines, this page has a great engagement if  am understanding it correctly.

After looking at all the data, it became apparent to me that this data and analytics tool is a great way to increase page activity, and to increase page followers. Before I did this research into analytics, I really didn't know how much data there was available, down to the gender of the follower, the type of device the page was viewed on and where they are located etc. I found it really interesting and I really enjoyed the exercise and it is definitely something I would like to use in my future business.
