Week 17: Wrapping It Up

My final post of the the semester, and what a semester it has been. As my first semester in the US as an international student, I have thoroughly enjoyed myself and I have especially enjoyed this course. When I first realized the course was going to be based on writing a blog each week, I must admit I wasn't thrilled. I didn't see my writing kills as anything special or exciting, and I definitely didn't believe anyone would be interested in what I had to discuss. HOWEVER, I have really enjoyed writing the blogs each week and the research that came along with them. I believe the course overall allowed me to also utilize my classmates work and research. As we all have different business ideas, I think it was great to view research from a different view point and to understand the explanations as to what might work best for them, and also some tools which may help me that I have never heard of.  With regards to my viewpoint on social media, I don't believe it has changed w...

Week 16 Part B: Building Out Your Strategy

Please see below for my brand strategy for a 4 week plan. In addition to the below brand strategy, I will also be spending every day on LinkedIn, connecting and networking with potential clients and candidates. Currently you can only connect with 100 people a week, so I will make sure I utilize that feature.  Week 1  Monday -  Post on Instagram and Facebook. I feel this would be best after working hours when people are scrolling social media. The post would be a promotional post and the same post across both platforms. eg. How to write a world class resume, Hot jobs in San Diego.  Tuesday -  Post on LinkedIn around Lunchtime. I would like to provide an interesting article to read and create a discussion.  Wednesday -  Post on Instagram and Facebook. This post may be an inspirational quote or a finance quote. Again, the post will be after working hours and the same post on each platform.  Thursday -  Post on LinkedIn around Lunchtime. This wou...

Week 16 Part A: Developing Your Marketing Strategy

For this post, I will be compiling all the information I have researched and learned from this semester. I don't believe my opinions have changed on which platform suits my business best, but I really enjoyed learning more about what each platform could bring to my business.  The most useful platforms for my business would be LinkedIn, FaceBook and Instagram. Twitter was mentioned a lot over this semester, but in all honesty, the time could be best used going into other forms of generating sales, so I decided to concentrate on the three I mentioned.  LinkedIn is a perfect platform for my business and the type of candidates and clients I would be looking to work with. The platform is primarily used for professional networking and career development, and allows job seekers to post their CVs and employers to post jobs and this is exactly my target audience. You are able to connect with people directly, follow business pages, create thoughtful posts and you can also has...

Week 15 Part B: What we Learn from FaceBook Analytics

This weeks assignment is to analyze and learn from FaceBook analytics. My page does not have enough likes or followers, I will need to use the material provided. I will be looking into many of the analytics such as reach, followers, engagement and actions. When I think about analytics, I feel like there are some obvious patters, however, it will be interesting to see if anything changes once I complete the research and look at the data.  The first analytic I will go over is the page reach - According to Facebook, reach is the number of unique users who had any content from your Facebook Page or about your Page enter their screen. So, in simple terms, it's the count of Facebook users who came into contact with your brand on Facebook. From looking at the data, between April 8 - May 5, there were a total of 6323 people reached from the posts, which was an increase of 28% on the previous month. When looking at this information, considering there is 12,175 followers on the page, t...

Week 15 Part A: What we Learn from Google Analytics

This week I will be researching and looking into Google analytics and how the features may benefit my business. Before I have even looked into this, I definitely believe that most applications that analyze information will be a benefit to my business as I will always have a lot of data, candidates and clients in various locations and industries, so it will be interesting to see what will work for me and what might not.  When looking at google analytics, the feature that I believe would be of least interest to my business would be the Integrations . This might be because right now, I do not have any systems that I would integrate, or any specific ad requirements, but this may change as the business grows and expands.  With that said, I wanted to concentrate on the other 5 features as I believe they will dramatically increase efficiency within my business.  1. Analytics Intelligence -   This is the ability to get fast answers to questions about my analytics data,...

Week 14: Social Media Management Tools

This week I will be researching the use of Social media management tools and how they may help with my business. I will be researching their overall use, along with some pro's and con's of me using these tools. I must admit, I had never heard of any of the online management tools before, so it was really interesting for me to invest some time and to see if they will genuinely help me if i eventually launch my business.  As the article states, 'Social media management software is crucial for businesses that want an effective social media marketing strategy. After all, social media is now used by more businesses than ever as a way to curate and engage with clients while spreading messaging about their products and services. However, social media management programs also help businesses save time and money. Where you would otherwise have to manage each social media platform separately, social media management platforms let you create and schedule posts across multiple platform...

Week 13 Part B: Developing Online Advertising

Image
This week I created 3 social media ads to advertise FINTAL Recruitment.  The first ad is quite basic, as i wanted to put my brand/logo out there for one of them. I want people to read our description and be clear about what it is we do. Sometimes, with busy pictures and unclear headings, customers may not quite understand what services are being offered. I believe that this post is straight to the point and clear and concise. Accounting professionals also like clean messages and due to them being in a logical and mathematical profession, I wanted to make sure I appealed to the right audience. My objective in this post would be for people to click on our profile and discover more, click to our Instagram,                                                                      ...

Week 13 Part A: Online Advertising - Analysis of the Marketplace

This week, when looking into online advertising, I don't think there is anyone out there who has not seen an ad on Facebook or Instagram. I also think this form of social media advertising is becoming more prominent in the world we live today.  When reading about the Facebook algorithm, the article mentions, that the Facebook algorithm decides which posts people see every time they check their Facebook feed, and in what order those posts show up. Now clearly, anyone who has Facebook will have experienced this more than once in their Facebook usage. One minute you are searching for a new laptop, and then suddenly, laptop advertisements begin popping up out of nowhere, and the same with Instagram. I actually get super annoyed with the adds on Instagram and Facebook, one because typically there is no credibility to the ads, i have so many friends and family members that have seen an add on Facebook, made the purchase and then never received the product. I believe this has had a ...

Week 12 Part B: Business Specific Tools

For this weeks assignment, I commented on the following blogs:  Nancy's CSIT 155 - Fall 2021 Class Blog Andrew Estelle's CSIT 155 FA21 Blog Sean's CSIT 155 - Fall 2021 Class Blog James Anear's Blog When reading my classmates blogs this week, it was interesting for me to see there were so many online collaboration tools that i had never heard of. None of my classmates businesses are the same as mine, so it is always interesting to read about how they feel they will gain the most exposure and therefore the most clients/customers.  Some of my classmates even with having different businesses reviewed the same social media platforms, yet they had a different opinion on how to use it which is also interesting to me.  One of my classmates really dived into TikTok and how this can be useful which i found interesting, I have always seen this as a social media site for 'fun' or 'to go viral' but due to the nature of his business, this would show the creative side ...

Week 12 Part A: Using Business Specific Online Tools

This week ill be researching into the use of online business tools. With all of my previous posts when relating to social media platforms, I have pointed out that LinkedIn is certainly the most relevant to FINTAL Recruitment, however, it is always good to see what else is out there and what can be utilized.  My business is a Finance Recruitment company, so I believe there are only certain online tools which will work. It is always important to remember, that just because they exist, it does not mean they will work for your type of business.  The first thing I researched was online collaboration tools. Online collaboration tools are web-based applications that offer basic services such as instant messaging for groups, mechanisms for file sharing and collaborative search engines (CSE) to find information distributed within the system of the organization, community or team. I believe this would be useful for my business and my team to interact with clients and to be able to ...

Week 11 Part B: Marketing with other social media

When researching into my classmates social media research, it was interesting to see what worked well for particular businesses. Sometimes, seeing the research of someone else can help you gain an extra viewpoint on a social media platform. You may believe a social media platform will not work for your business, but someone else could show you a different set of eyes to work though.  Below are the following blogs i commented on:  Nancy Williams: I enjoyed reading Nancy's post and it was nice to see that she was bale to utilize LinkedIn, which she initially thought would not be suitable for her company. I also liked her takeaway from the research, that it is important to stay true to the business idea. It can sometimes get confusing when you are trying to please and attract everyone on social media.  Andrew Estelle:  Andrew made a great discussion for social media influencers. I believe the majority of social media influencers have a bad reputation for many reas...

Week 11 Part A: Marketing with Twitter, LinkedIn, and more

This week is to research into a variety of different social media platforms and how they might be able to help me and FINTAL Recruitment. There are many different services on Twitter, LinkedIn, Google and Instagram that can be utilized and help you in building a brand from scratch, or building on a brand that is already in progress.  After conducting my own research, I believe that LinkedIn would be the primary marketing site for my Finance and Accounting Recruitment company. LinkedIn is a platform that is primarily used for professional networking and career development, and this is exactly who my target audience will be for my business; People that are looking for new job opportunities and people looking to hire new financial talent.  LinkedIn is the world's largest professional network on the internet and this can be utilized to find the right job or internship, connect and strengthen professional relationships, and learn the skills you need to succeed in your career. Linke...

Week 10: developing a newsletter

I posted on the following blogs: https://csit155-fa21-tahneet.blogspot.com https://csit155-fa21-janns.blogspot.com https://csit155-fa21-drewe.blogspot.com

Week 10 Part A: Researching Email Marketing

After reading the lecture notes and researching into company newsletters, it was interesting to find out more about these emails and how and why they are so important! Immediately what comes to my mind when I think of company newsletters is 'annoying' and 'unsubscribe' but I guess that's just my personal opinion, or maybe in signing up to the wrong newsletters!  When I think about FINTAL Recruitment and a business newsletter, I believe that once a month would be an ideal number of newsletters to send out. As the lecture notes suggest, email marketing is one of the most important tools to work into the company's marketing mix. When I am not sure if my customers will see my social media efforts, email marketing remains to fill the gap, and also double up as a reminder or a gentle nudge to push us back to the front of our clients and candidates minds.  With a recruitment company, one benefit of regular connections or reminders, is that a businesses recruitment need...

Week 9 Part B: Using Categories

Image
When it comes to categories for my business and target audience, there are many angles i could take for this. Although i am a Finance and Accounting Recruitment company, i can also branch out to make sure i include people looking for specific roles or categories!  The main and obvious category would be 'Recruitment'. This is the main industry that my target audience will be searching for. Whether this be the candidates looking for a new opportunity, or a company looking to make new hires. This category will be the most popular and most used. Another category which could be intertwined with this is 'Headhunting'. This is essentially another form of recruitment which is becoming more popular today, it is slightly more skilled and specialized in finding the most appropriate talent rather than posting an add on Indeed.  The next category I would say is 'Finance and Accounting'. This is the sector of which my company finds itself. We specialize in finance and account...

Week 9 Part A: Blogs, Vlogs, Podcasts & Webinars

This blog will discuss the importance of attaching human interest of a personal touch to a post. There are many ways to insert a personal touch into a blog or post as mentioned in our assignment.  One of the first things the audience will recognize as they consume the content is the style in which the content is delivered. The way content is written, the specific words used frequently in my articles, and even the way i address the audience all matter. Another way of adding a personal touch I believe, is to write as a person, even though you are sharing content for the purpose of promoting a business. I believe the audience relates better to people as opposed to brands. Rather than writing as a business, maybe writing as the owner of the business is more relatable and also make sure you share faces behind the business. Readers and customers like to see 'behind the scenes' and the face behind the work, once they see this, then they tend to feel closer.  Another way to add a huma...

Week 8 Part B: Your Instagram Hashtag Use

Hello bloggers and classmates!  So this week I posted three times on my FINTAL Recruitment Instagram page.  I created all my posts in Canva and I also shared them to my FaceBook page through my Instagram.  The first post was about the work life balance topic which has certainly grown among candidates searching for jobs. Covid has changed the way we want to live and I don't think its a bad thing. I posted this on Sunday 10th October at around 10am.  The second post was another post I created myself on Canva letting my followers know that we are hiring and if they are interested, then to get in touch today. As a recruitment agency, we will always be on the lookout for new candidates and I wanted to advertise just that. I posted this one on Thursday 14th October at around 12pm.  The third post was a quote about the chances we miss out on in life. This is super important for candidates to understand. Recruiters have a bad reputation and I think it is always worth he...

Week 8 Part A: How to Expand Your Reach on Instagram by Using Hashtags

For this weeks assignment, I will be reviewing several different Finance and Accounting Recruitment companies and observe how affectively they use Instagram and hashtags.  First of all, what is a Hashtag? A hashtag is a metadata tag that is prefaced by the hash symbol, #. Hashtags are used on microblogging and photo-sharing services such as Twitter, Instagram and WeChat as a form of user-generated tagging that enables cross-referencing of content; that is, sharing a topic or theme. So lets go ahead and observe some accounts and how they utilize Instagram.  The first account I will look at is Robert Half - Instagram .  Robert half are classed as 'The world’s 1st specialized talent solutions firm'. They have around 15,000 followers and are worldwide. Typically, they post every day on Instagram and do use a variety of hashtags on their posts such as #Roberthalf #recruiting #corporatelife, however, each post has different hashtags depending on the topic of the post whic...

Week 7 Part B: How Other Class Members Businesses Use Instagram

This week when looking into our classmates Instagram's, it was interesting to see how different types of businesses use it differently.  The first Instagram commented on was Trulyours Designs. I loved this page as it right away shows the images that can be purchased and are available. Not only do they showcase the images, they also try to get the customers to interact by asking favourite colours etc. Instagram can be a great asset to this company.  The second Instagram I observed and commented on was Prod.byterrell. As this page is pretty new, it doesn't give much away, which I like. The posts that are on there are very eye catching, as they were on the FaceBook page, and i'm excited to see how this account grows and links it to FaceBook.  The third Instagram I observed and commented on i.am.ionian. This is the first Instagram I commented on which is already an established account. This account has a link to their website, as well as utilizing the reels, IGTV and stories ...

Week 6 Part B: Creating and Scheduling FaceBook Posts

Image
For this weeks assignment, I created and scheduled three FaceBook posts. I wanted to create three different types of posts that would attract my clients and candidates. When I see FaceBook posts, I like to see images and quotes as well as interesting articles to read and think about, so this is what I did with FINTAL Recruitment Facebook page.  On Tuesday the 5th October, I scheduled an interesting image with a quote which states ' In recruiting there is no good or bad experiences - just learning experiences'. I love this quote as I believe every hire for an employer or employee is a learning experience. I think this provides a thoughtful insight into the world of recruitment and it allows candidates and clients to acknowledge that every hire will be a different process for different reasons and that's ok.  The second post I scheduled is a article from Forbes. Forbes is an American business magazine owned by Integrated Whale Media Investments and the Forbes family. Publishe...
